Wallpaper Changer runs under Windows 95 OCR 2 (you must have comctl32.dll version 4.70 or later), Windows 98/Me, NT4 and 2000/XP. On versions of shell (shell32.dll) prior to 4.71 (i.e. without Internet Explorer 4.0 or later installed with shell integration enabled), Wallpaper Changer will replace background page of the display Control Panel with its own instead of adding it.
When installing Wallpaper Changer on Windows NT/2000/XP, you must have administrator's rights in the system, or the program will not be able to register itself.
Wallpaper Changer does not support migration from Windows 9x/NT4 to Windows 2000/XP, so you will need to reinstall it after such upgrade.
Wallpaper Changer does not require Active Desktop to be enabled.
If you have a version of Wallpaper Changer prior to 3.x, please uninstall it before installing this version. If you don't, some older redundant files will be left in your system.
For the best performance on Intel® CPUs or any CPUs with MMX® or SSE technology support, Wallpaper Changer can use highly optimized Intel JPEG Library v1.5 and Intel Image Processing Library v2.5 (they are no longer available from the Intel's site). After unpacking/installing, simply copy the contents of the respective /BIN directories into your %WINDOWS% or %SYSTEM% directory.
Once installed, you need to configure Wallpaper Changer to make it work.
Open Display Control Panel and go to Wallpaper tab. Click Add/Remove button and add any number of pictures or directories containing them to the list. Click OK when done.
Click Options button and select when and in which order you want your wallpaper to be changed. Click OK.
That's it for minimum configuration.
You can also explore some extra program capabilities browsing other tabs in the Options dialogue. Most of the controls there will display tool tips when the mouse moves over them.
• Problem: Wallpaper Changer does not start when using Task Scheduler under Windows NT/2000/XP.
This is most probably because you did not specify your user name (something like <computer or domain name>\<user name>) or password (even if you don't use it to log in to your account) in the task properties.
• Tip: You can quickly preview a picture by dragging it from Explorer into the preview box.
• Tip: Right-clicking the preview box brings down a menu with some additional options, like saving a selected picture in a different format or printing the current screen in a picture.
This build is optimized for Intel® Pentium®II and later processors.
